Job Duties:

This Mass Spectrometry Sample Loading Lab Technician position will be supporting the Air Force Technical Applications Center’s (AFTAC) Ciambrone Laboratory with mass spectrometry sample preparation, development of standard operating procedures, and report generation. The Mass Spectrometry Sample Loading Lab Technician will support all aspects of radioisotope sample preparation, loading, and unloading in regards to mission operations. They will support the monitoring and maintenance of laboratory equipment, and support in processing and analyzing samples in the radiochemistry laboratory.

Essential Job Functions: 

• The candidate shall provide mass spectrometry sample loading to include:
• Creating laboratory reagents
• Maintaining laboratory hygiene
• Laboratory preparation for sample processing such as lab equipment operation, installation, validation, and documentation.
  Disposing of radioactive waste in accordance with Federal, State and local laws while following AFTAC Safety Office (SE) waste
  procedures
  Following radiochemistry standard operating procedures as written to transition environmental samples to laboratory samples for analysis.
  Chemical inventory management and trace level sample handling.
  Trace level chemical processing along with laboratory management and maintenance
  Experience following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) protocols and documenting process outcomes.
  Experience using a manual or computer controlled optical microscope for inspection purposes
